Training

All adult volunteers will be provided with training/learning opportunities that are relevant, flexible and of high quality. These will suit individuals’ needs and personal circumstances.

BGIFC as part of Girlguiding UK uses the same training schemes for new Leaders and Commissioners. New Leaders and Commissioners will have a Mentor to help them settle into their role. Both Leaders and Commissioners will follow a training scheme which should take between six and nine months to complete.

The Leadership Qualification is for Leaders and it is a ‘hands on’ type of training.  The Leader develops her skills and knowledge whilst working with the unit and by attending District meetings and/or trainings where this is possible. She also works closely with her Mentor.

The Commissioner Induction Programme will enable the Commissioner to explore many of the areas which she will need to be aware of and understand to carry out her duties. The Mentor will support and where necessary give advice to the Commissioner designate for approximately six months by which time she should have made contact with her units/districts/divisions/counties as appropriate.

A training is held in the UK every year in July for all Adults and Young Leaders and every other year also for the girls.

Various trainings are held in many of our countries and you should look at the up to date section to see whether or not you would be able to attend. The Training and Activity Centres (TACs) in the UK will always welcome you. Should you be in the UK it is always worth giving them a call to find out whether or not a suitable training is taking place.  Contact details for the TACs can be found on the Girlguiding UK website: www.girlguiding.org.uk/centres/

Should you feel that we can help you in any way please ring or email the Girlguiding BGIFC office and the Administrator will ensure that you receive a prompt reply.
